Dear Brother Authors,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the second annual African American Adolescent Male Summer Literacy Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago Reading Clinic. I cannot express enough how excited I am for the opportunity to work with young brother authors from Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. We are afforded the opportunity to engage together in a unique literacy collaborative in which we will read and write about issues of social justice. Authors, past and present, will serve as our language and writing coaches as we write about contemporary issues affecting African American adolescent males.
