Home Broadsides All the Way from New York

I wrote the following broadside to express my love affair with my country, a place where I strive to keep my consciousness intact.

Post your home broadsides below:

Against America’s Concrete

The grand experiment was to destroy my consciousness
Bury my thoughts beneath the ocean and dry out my memory in the Southern heat
I resisted and I still resist
To be caricatured although I am still on display
To those who want their America back
I’ll give it freely if you can give me back what I offered in return
You were my first kiss
My huffy bicycle
My corner store
My red ten speed
My embarrassment and my shame
You continue to be my auction block
Looking on to see what I will do next
I see you looking over my shoulder
Wondering what I will say
Wondering...
I will not crack
Still intact
I am home.
